Minimalism: Books

For my decluttering, the hardest part for me has been the books and I don't know why.

I think it's the "what if " fear:

  • What if I need the information?
  • What if I want to read the book again?

Thoughts that combat the fears are:

1. I can easily look up the information

2. I can get a newer version. ( I read about technology and non fiction a lot.)

3. I don't even read physical books that much. I listen to podcasts almost every day.

4. Do I like the books more, or the space.

However that anxiety still remains.

I think the only way to make this "what if" fear less forefront is to just get rid of one book and see what happens.

Thanks for letting me share.

Please let me know if you have this same fear and what do you do about it?

  1. I do have this problem with books. But my fear is that I am worried the books will be trashed and not appreciated/read. Especially since I usually really enjoy the books I read so much. Just want the books to be respected you know?

  2. Thanks for the comment!
Is it worth keeping the books if you are never going to read them? If you can give the book to someone you know that will read it, that would the best option. :)
