Fashion Tried and True: How to Organize Your Closet

When I think about fashion, great outfits come to mind. However, what if you can't find that one dress that you are looking for? It doesn't matter how expensive the outfit is or what the outfit looks like if you can't find it.

Here are some simple rules which let me stay organized.

1. Use good hangers.

ex) Bed Bath and Beyond's Satin Padded Hangers

These give your clothes the space they need to stand out and hang properly. If clothes are pressed together you will never see them.

2. Once a year go through your ENTIRE closet and get rid/donate/sell all the items that you haven't worn in two years or more. This is true especially if the tags are still on them. If you have not worn it by now, you never are.

3. Have a honest friend take pictures of you in your favorite ten outfits. The photo and the friend will let you know if they are the outfits that SHOULD be your favorite. Just because you love the item, that doesn't mean the camera does.

4. Write down any items that you think that you are missing.

This way you can search for it before you hit the mall and buy something you don't need...again.

5. See if your formal dress are still appropriate for your life.

Prom was how many years ago? If more then four, then you should get rid of it. There are charities that are looking for prom dresses.
