Holiday Advice: How To Go Green (both money and energy)

So I was watching a documentary about sustainability and it got me thinking about Christmas and the holidays.  Here is a list of some things I am going to do this holiday, so I can save money, as well as energy.

1. have a potluck holiday party.
Having only one recipe to bake makes parties with friends more fun and definitely cheaper.

2. have a clothing swap party.
You don't have to just bring clothes; accessories (purses, belts, jewelry) are fun to swap too.

3. bring any clothes that need to be fixed to the tailor. I know I have at least 3 dresses that need to be fixed; therefore, I wouldn't "have to" go buy another dress. (Even though, it would be fun.) A $10 fix could save you a lot of money.

4.  bring any clothes that you were going to trash to Goodwill or another thrift shop. These thrift shops can sell even stained clothes or clothes with holes in them to other companies called rag sorters.  “85 percent of the 70 pounds of textiles the average American purchases each year ends up landfilled. "

5. Have a few friends over to make new outfits out of pieces that I haven't worn in a while.
- which will be a great photo shoot for this blog =:)

Happy Holidays!
