Massage Fail
I'm not going to say where I went because I don't like to write badly about people or companies. I use the policy if you don't have anything nice to say, say nothing at all. However, I feel the message is worth writing.
Today I went for a massage, as my back can hurt sometime. When the appointment started 15 minutes late, it wasn't a big deal. I wasn't in a rush and I didn't get mad - all I did was make a note of it in my mind.
Here's why I needed to stand up for myself. It ended early. Not really early but two minutes early. That by itself is fine. Ending early by two minutes I expect. It's so the customer is actually out the door on "time". However since it started 15 min late I had to say something.
I stated "I thought this was an hour massage". She said it was and pointed to the clock. Ok, being nice isn't going to work :( So I pointed out that we started 15 min late. I swear she shrugged her shoulders. At this point I realize she doesn't care. I would have even accepted that she needed to start her next appointment and needed to meet the next person that was waiting. I'm not going to win in this argument and I was out of my "zen" feeling.
At this point I'll just ask for a discount and move on with my life. It's not worth the stress. Isn't getting rid of stress part of getting a massage? The worse part for her, I was going to ask for her again. She did a great job with the actual treatment. Thankfully for the place, the receptionist was very nice and offered to comp part of the spa appointment. I'm going back to a different person, but if there is another customer service fail I'll just move on to another spa.
Standing up for yourself is part wisdom to know when to move on and pick your battles.
